Temporary Closure of Footpath No. 1

Footpath from Snowhill to East Head to be closed during flood defence works

West Sussex County Council has made a Temporary Closure Order to protect public safety whilst flood defence work is undertaken by the Environment Agency.

The Order will come in to operation on 16th April and is likely to last until August.

The Order reads as follows:

WEST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL
(WEST WITTERING: PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO. 1)
(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2012

NOTICE is hereby given that not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, West Sussex County Council intend to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any person from proceeding along a length of Public Footpath No. 1, West Wittering, from its junction with Roman Landing (SZ773986) south-westwards for a distance of 850 metres (SZ766984).

The Order is necessary to protect public safety whilst flood defence work is undertaken.

Unfortunately there are no alternative routes available using the Public Rights of Way network.

The Order will come into effect on 16th April 2012 and will last for 6 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier.
