Chichester District Council has launched a £500,000 discretionary grants scheme to support local community groups and businesses, as part of our COVID-19 recovery plan.

COVID-19 grants scheme

Chichester District Council has launched a £500,000 discretionary grants scheme to support local community groups and businesses, as part of our COVID-19 recovery plan. £250,000 will be allocated to supporting community groups and £250,000 will be allocated to supporting businesses based within the Chichester District.

There are two discretionary grant funds , a minor grants fund and a major grant fund. You can apply to one of these schemes but not to both. 
The minor grant will be a small grant award for up to £1000.00. This could include PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), physical alterations to premises, or other measures put in place to keep staff and customers safe during this crisis and can cover costs already incurred.

The major grant is a 50/50 match funded grant. It’s minimum grant amount is £1000 to a maximum of £5000. This grant can be used for projects such as enhancing the look and feel of premises, adapting premises to help attract visitors, buying additional furniture, advertising and promotion, updating your current website to make more services available online. 

To be eligible for either of the grants your businesses must be in the following sectors:- retail in premises, hospitality, leisure, tourism, restaurant, hair and beauty, gym, health and wellbeing and you must employ between 1.5 – 30 full time equivalent employees.
