Chichester Local Plan Update – Nov. 2013
The next steps in the Local Plan
Earlier this year hundreds of you put forward your views on Chichester’s draft Local Plan as part of a district-wide consultation.
The Plan is important because it is the blueprint that will guide development across the district over the next 15 years. It covers Chichester, Selsey and the many villages and parishes that make up the Chichester District outside the South Downs National Park. A number of parishes are also looking to prepare neighbourhood plans which will support the implementation of the Local Plan.
Your views have been considered and some revisions have been made to the Plan as a result.
The consultation revealed that people wanted a redistribution of the number of homes built across the 15 year period, more emphasis on the way in which we protect important habitats in the district and changes to strategic site boundaries.
Between November and the beginning of January we want you to tell us if you believe the revised plan meets Government guidelines.
After this the Plan will be subject to a Public Examination held by an Inspector appointed by the Secretary of State. The Inspector is required to consider whether the plan has been prepared in accordance with the relevant regulations and is ‘sound’.
