WEST WITTERING PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES of the Meeting of the Parish Council, held on Thursday 4th August 2011 in the Sports Pavilion, Rookwood Road, West Wittering.

PRESENT: Mr. R. Shrubb, (Chairman), Mr. K. Martin, (Vice Chairman) Mr. D Wright,  Mrs S. Smith, Mrs. K. Simmons, Mrs C Megenney and 11 members of the public. Cllr Montyn and Cllr Marshall were also in attendance.

83.       APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

84.       DECLARATIONS UNDER THE CODE OF CONDUCT

Mr Wright declared a personal interest in the planning application for Thessaly and Columbia, Roman Landing. Mr Martin and Mrs Megeney declared a personal interest in the planning application for Atherstone Lodge. Mrs Simmons declared a personal interest in the application for Applegarth, and a prejudicial interest in the application for Thessally and Gateways.

85.       PLANNING APPLICATIONS

(a)        The Chairman opened the meeting to allow the agent for Thessaly to address the meeting as well as the agent for the owner of Portus to speak against the application. Mr Lansley of Roman Landing Leaseholders also addressed the meeting. Members discussed the relative merits of the previous applications and the impact of this subsequent application and the Planning Inspectors comments. On a proposal by Mr Martin, seconded by Mrs Megeney, it was agreed to object on grounds that this application was uneighbourly and excessive in height and mass.

86. MINUTES

On a proposal by Mr. Wright, seconded by Mr Martin, the minutes were approved and signed by the Chairman. It was noted that West Wittering Estates had generously paid for the newsletters to be posted and Members wished to record their appreciation.

(b)   On a proposal by Mr. Martin, and seconded by Mr. Wright, payment of the above accounts was authorised by the Parish Council.

88.       WEST WITTERING CROQUET CLUB

Mr. Shrubb reported that the Club had now secured funding for its development of the rinks. On a proposal by Mr Martin, seconded by Mrs Megenney, the Council agreed to draw up the appropriate licence with the Club and the Clerk was instructed to advise the Council’s solicitor.

89.       OPEN FORUM

Councillor Barrett informed Members that the Witterings Youth Club would be seeking funding from 2012, and asked the Council to consider a contribution from its precept. It was agreed to discuss this in September.

There being no further business for discussion the meeting closed at 9.00 pm.
