The following people serve on the Parish Council:

  • Mr Richard Shrubb (Chairman)
    • Richard Shrubb was born and brought up in West Wittering where he has spent most of his working life. He has been a Parish Councillor since 1986 and is the longest serving Councillor. He first became Chairman in 1987 and again in 2011 and then in 2015.
      Particular interests include planning, Parish finance, management of Parish assets, the environment, footpaths, and the general protection and enhancement of this unique village.

  • Mr Bob Hutton (Vice Chairman)
    • Bob Hutton retired from his post as CEO of a national charity based in Surrey in 2011. He was a Magistrate for 23 years and was awarded an MBE in 2011 for services to the community.
    • Bob Hutton served previously for 17 years on WWPC and returned in May 2015 after a 4 year absence whilst undertaking another community project on behalf of the Woodger Trust. He has held the post of Vice Chair and Chair and currently serves as Vice Chairman.

  • Mr Bill Buckland
    • Working Party membership: Snowhill and Sportsfields Management. Representative on Peninsula Forum and South ~Chichester CLC
  • Mr Keith Martin
    • Resident of West Wittering since 1994 with a life long association with the village, Keith Martin is a qualified physicist who has spent much of his career in aviation and project finance.
    • Keith Martin was a core member of the team that created the Village Design Statement in 2006, was elected a Parish Councillor in 2007 and is a past chairman of the Parish Council. He represents the Chichester District Association of Local Councils on the Chichester Harbour Conservancy Advisory Committee and chairs their Planning Consultative Committee.
    • Working Party membership: Communications and Finance. Representative on: Chichester District Association of Local Councils, Peninsula Community Forum, East Head Coastal Issues Advisory Group and the Parish Church
  • Mrs Jean Barrett
    • Jean Barrett has been a resident of West Wittering for over 16 years and is involved in several local societies in the area on a voluntary basis.
    • Working Party membership: Footpaths and Open Spaces, Sportsfields Management, Tree Warden and Neighbourhood Plan. Representative on Chichester District Association of Local Councils and Twinning Association.
  • Mr David Sadler
    • David Sadler became a permanent resident of the village in 2011 after many years of bringing his family to West Wittering for week-ends and holidays. He travels extensively as an adviser in communications technology. David is married to a head teacher and has two daughters who are now grown up.
    • His interests are in cycling, walking, windsurfing and sailing. He would like see West Wittering develop as a tourist destination whilst retaining its character.
    • Working Party membership: Communications, Footpaths & Open Spaces, Neighbourhood Plan and Parish Assets. Representative on Manhood Peninsula Parnership and Memorial Hall
  • Mr Ray Lewis
    • Ray Lewis was elected to the Council in 2015
    • He, with his wife, retired to the area in 2007 after spending most of his business life overseas. The natural beauty of the Witterings and warmth of the local population were prime movers in their decision to settle and now look forward to being more active in village life.
    • Working Party membership: Finance, Emergency Planning, Sportsfield Management
  • Mr Hemal Patel
    • Hemal Patel was co-opted to the Council in June 2016
    • Hemal’s association with West Wittering came from a family day out in the summer of 2006 when he discovered the local shop was up for sale. The opportunity was too good to turn down and he has remained in the village since. His family moved to West Wittering from Wallington permanently in July 2009.
    • His background is in sales in a number of branded companies, most recently with a well known ice cream company. He brings a wealth of commercial experience to WWPC.
    • Hemal and his wife are well known in the village as they are hands on owners of their versatile shop. They have organised several local charity events. Hemal’s aspiration is to see West Wittering retain its individuality whilst developing sustainable tourism. He would like see cycling and walking facilities enhanced without drastically changing the appearance of the village.

  • Mrs Nicolette Pike
    • Mrs Pike was co-opted to the Council in September 2016.
